Operating Instructions Scubatec "personal filter"

The Scubatec "personal filter" is a filter unit that can be used by the user as an additional safety measure to avoid carbon-containing particles when filling breathable gases.

The "personal filter" has a G5/8" female thread on one side and a G5/8" male thread on the other. These connections are screwed into the personal filter with a cylindrical M25/2 thread. That
Tightening torque is 80 NM. Below the connection there is a sintered filter and below it a felt disc. This is repeated on the opposite connection side. The filter is filled with commercially available activated carbon.

The "personal filter" of the target container to be filled and the compressor system can only be dismantled when the pressure is relieved.
The maximum gas throughput is 80 litres per minute. When used on compressors with a higher air delivery capacity, the gas flow rate must be reduced accordingly by suitable reductions, e.g. needle valves. Another possibility is to fill several bottles simultaneously, using several "personal filters". For example, 4 bottles can be filled simultaneously at a compressor with 320 litres/minute using 4 "personal filters".
A gas-tight sealing of the "personal filter" when not in use is not necessary.
Operation with all gases other than air is NOT permitted.
upkeep
Since the "personal filter" may be operated exclusively and additionally on compressors that supply air in accordance with the valid EN standard, regular replacement of the activated carbon is not necessary. If excessive humidity is detected on the respective connection sides when the filter is removed, this can be an indication of a malfunction of the compressor. In this case, the activated carbon of the "personal filter" should be replaced.
safety information
Since the "personal filter" is exclusively filled with activated carbon, there is no drying of the filling gas. For this reason, the "personal filter" may only be operated on compressors that supply breathing air in accordance with the valid EN air regulations. The operator of the compressor system must ensure this.
