Apeks DS4 1st stage
OVERBALANCED, MEMBRANE CONTROLLED FIRST STAGE
The heart of a regulator is the first stage. Most First Stages of Apeks work with an overbalanced, membrane controlled mechanism. In an overbalanced First Stage, as the diver's depth increases, the mean pressure in the tubing increases faster than in conventional balanced First Stages. The increased mean pressure compensates for the increasing density of your breathing gas by allowing a greater amount of breathing gas to flow through the system when needed (i.e. when inhaling). The result is above-average breathing performance, regardless of depth.
DRY CHAMBER PROTECTED BY "DRY SEAL
This device serves several purposes, among others it protects against icing of the main spring as it can occur during dives in very cold waters. The "Dry Seal" also protects the first stage drying chamber from the ingress of contaminants. This eliminates the need for greasy silicone oils or grease fillings in the regulator.
The 1st stage Apeks DS 4 has 4 medium pressure outlets (3/8") and 1 high pressure outlet (7/16"). Therefore, this stage has an extremely compact design and can be used optimally in many applications. Whether on a monobottle, a double unit or a stage.
The DIN connection is suitable for cylinders 200bar and 300bar pressure.
This first stage is of course suitable for cold water..
The DS4 is especially popular in technical diving and as a second 1st stage!
